I never thought I’d say this but I miss reading the newspaper, thinking ‘this is sad’. Why you ask? Because the definition of ‘sad’ has changed, scratch that, it has evolved over the years. And just in case you miss the tone I’m trying to take; crimes are no more just crimes!
Yes, unfortunately, it is either inspired by a movie’s plot or so baffling/bewildering that a movie can be made out of it! In a grave case of the former, remember when we told you about a Telangana woman who poured acid on her lover’s face so that she could pass him off as her husband (whom she killed BTW)?
In case you need a little help with your memory, M. Swathi, a 27-year-old nurse from the Nagarkurnool district of Telangana was married to Sudhakar Reddy for three years and they also had a child. However, she came close to Rajesh, a physiotherapist. And that’s why they hatched a plan to get rid of Sudhakar.
After being inspired by the Allu Arjun’s Telugu movie ‘Yevadu’, the lovers decided to kill the husband by injecting him with anaesthesia. The plan was very chilling because the part-B of their plan was to injure Rajesh’s face by pouring a small amount of acid and changing his looks through plastic surgery!
Hold on, there’s more…Swathi then rushed her ‘husband’ (Rajesh faking it as Sudhakar) to the hospital and informed the family that he had been attacked. Believe it or not, they almost succeeded in their plan, but then the story took a dramatic turn.
According to Mumbai Mirror, Swathi and Rajesh have now been caught red-handed thanks to a bowl of mutton soup!
If you’re wondering the ‘what’ and ‘how’, it all went downhill when he (who know who) refused to have mutton soup served to patients with burn injuries. The relatives who had earlier noticed behavioural changes earlier were shocked when he told the hospital staff that he is a vegetarian. Yeah, the real Sudhakar was a non-vegetarian!
An official involved in the investigation said,
“It was then, the family began suspecting him. They asked him to identify the family members. The ‘fake’ Sudhakar refused to open his mouth and conversed with them by writing on his palm.”
It was then that the cops questioned Swathi, who confessed to having murdered Sudhakar Reddy in a joint operation with Rajesh! Reportedly, the police has arrested Swathi and are ready to arrest Rajesh once he is discharged from the hospital after treatment.
While this is not the first time that reel-life scenarios have inspired crimes, this brutal murder and conspiracy compels one to cringe. Heres hoping that the duo receives the punishment they deserve. For taking an innocent man’s life and for giving love a bad name!
