Mumbai Student Gets Pushed And Mistreated By Railway Staff, Records His Nightmare On Camera

“To err is human, to forgive divine.”

As the age-old saying goes, it is the very nature of humans to commit mistakes. No one in the world is perfect and we all have done something in our past that we regret now. Having said that, it is also very important to accept our faults and try to not repeat them and apologise to the person we’ve hurt in the process.

However, it seems like Central Railway employees do not believe in the practice of playing by the rules or caring for human rights. In a recent incident, the ugly side of the organisation’s way of managing business has been revealed.

Sharan Malhotra, a student from Mumbai, took to Facebook on Monday to share a horrific story of him getting manhandled and misbehaved by a Train Ticket Examiner (TTE) at Mulund Railway Station.

According to Sharan, he visited the railway station only to meet his friend and didn’t have a platform ticket (worth ₹10) with him. When the TTE asked him to pay a fine of ₹260, he agreed but asked him to accompany him to the ATM as he didn’t have enough cash.

The TTE then took Sharan to his office where other officers and detained persons were present and asked him to get the money and keep his mobile and wallet with him. When Sharan offered to keep his bag instead of the valuables, the TTE allegedly pushed and manhandled him.

The witnesses in Sharan’s video also admitted that the TC manhandled him.

When Sharan started recording the incident with his phone, the TTE called higher authorities and a Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable. According to him, the TTE even said,

“We behave like this with women as well. Who are you?”

The TTEs even tried to show Sharan their ‘authority’ and scare him by saying that he will be booked for recording an on-duty personnel.

After the constable’s intervention, Sharan paid the fine but was asked to delete the videos from his phone. Fortunately, he was able to recover them later.

When Sharan complained about the matter to Ravindra Goyal, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Central Railways, he got an assurance of a thorough investigation of the matter.

Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Central Railway, Sachin Bhalode also assures of a necessary action on the matter.

“We have gone through the post and spoken to Malhotra as well. We will take necessary action after verifying the incident.”

Here is an account of the incident and the videos, posted by Sharan Malhotra.

The incident has yet again shown how some government employees take unfair advantage of the power in their hands and taint the image of the entire organisation. It is important that the concerned authorities take appropriate action at the earliest and make an example of it so that we don’t hear about more of such incidents.
