9 Quirky And Cheap Places In Mumbai You Can Shop At, If You Are Planning To Redecorate

Mumbai is an expensive place to live in. The rent is high, and the deposit is higher. After you FINALLY find a place to live in Mumbai, you hardly have the energy, or money left to decorate it. But, learning from experience, I have some places to suggest which might make it easier for you to decorate your home.

These places have a lot of variety for incredibly cheap prices. So, let’s begin the crawl.

1. Chor Bazaar – For vintage products and furniture

If you are a fan of vintage products, Chor Bazaar is the place to go. From vintage wall arts, furniture, sculptures and other items which will give your house a unique antique look to beautiful paintings and old coins, you will get everything there. Believe me, you can be too specific with your choice, but if you look hard enough, you are going to find it. I have found beautiful things like an old typewriter and a glorious gramophone. So, you never know. You might get extremely lucky!

2. Colaba Causeway – Lamps and vintage wall clocks

Yes, we have all been to Colaba for buying jewelry and clothes, but the next time you are there, don’t forget to scout for beautiful lamps and vintage wall clocks. Apart from that, the market is full of beautiful table pieces, jewelry boxes, precious stones etc. A very important reminder, DO NOT forget to bargain for the prices.

3. Oshiwara – Furniture

Oshiwara’s famous furniture market is known as the Mini Chor Bazar of Mumbai. From Vintage wardrobes to beds, to chairs; it’s a wooden furniture paradise. If you get lucky, you might lay your hands on some authentic art deco pieces, but otherwise, you can also get your designs custom made from scratch.

4. Dadar Flower Market – Fresh Flowers

Fresh flower arrangements can lighten up any interior decor set up. Now, if your nearby florist is ripping you off with expensive roses and lilies, it’s time to head to Dadar Flower market and buy beautiful fresh flowers at really cheap prices. The market opens early in the morning so it’s suggested that you reach there as soon as possible.

5. Crawford Market – Crockery, crystal vases and glassware

Although, it’s said that you can find absolutely anything in Crawford Market, its crockery collection is absolutely brilliant. From quirky chinaware to porcelain pots, crystal vases, and compact and stylish kitchen essentials, you will find it all here.

6. Mangaldas Market – Fabrics

No need to splurge on expensive curtains, cushion covers, and rugs when you have Mangaldas Market to visit. Situated just behind the Crawford Market, Mangaldas Market has a wide variety of curtains and all other kinds of fabrics sold at throwaway prices. From different textures to prints, you will have a broad range to choose from.

7. Bandra Station – Furniture

This is where I bought my furniture from when I moved to Mumbai. You have a wide variety of both first-hand and second-hand furniture available at incredibly cheap prices.

8. Bangur Nagar – Miscellaneous home accessories

Bangur Nagar has shops for all kinds of home accessories, but it’s highly recommended for its price range. The items sold here are almost 1/4 the price of showrooms.

9. Bhuleshwar – Fabrics

If you don’t happen to find your pick of fabrics in Crawford or Mangaldas Market, Bhuleshwar is another option you can visit. You will get a wide variety of cute pillow cases and cushion covers for very cheap prices.
