Watch What Happened When Dhoni Forgot That He Is Not The Captain Anymore Against England

“Old habits die hard.”

This very old saying proved apt on India’s ex-captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni when he took the field against England for the first ODI. It was the first time in almost 10 years that India’s most successful captain was playing only as a wicket-keeper batsman.

This Twitter video uploaded by Vinay mani Tripathi shows an ecstatic MS Dhoni asking for the umpire to review his decision. It was the 27th over of England’s innings and Dhoni appealed for a caught behind for Eoin Morgan. When the umpire said, ‘no’, Dhoni, not realising that he is not the captain anymore, immediately asked for a review. It is actually the job of the fielding captain to officially review the umpire’s decision and as soon as Kohli saw Dhoni going for it, he stood by his most experienced player. However, at the end, MSD was right as the umpire changed his decision and asked the English captain to leave.

Dhoni may have forgotten his role for a second but this incident has proved that his experience is surely going to benefit India in the coming matches.
