Mother Kills Her Own Son To Save Daughter-In-Law From Domestic Violence

As sad as the tale is that I’m going to tell you today, it’s something that should never happen to anyone, ever.

Upon witnessing the evils her son had entrusted upon her daughter-in-law, a mother strangled her own boy to death. She stayed with his body all night, crying on the side.

Anwari Idrisi, a 45-year-old woman, lived with her 3 sons and their wives in Ambedkar Chawl, Mankhurd, Mumbai. Her youngest son, Nadeem Naim (25), had an uncontrollable addiction to drugs.

Two years ago, Nadeem was married to an Allahabad based woman who was unaware of her husband’s addiction. After 5 months of living together, she left the house, tired of his beatings and drug abuse.

Anwari reportedly didn’t want her daughter-in-law to leave, so she promised the girl that Nadeem won’t beat her, ever. And if he does, she will protect her. She convinced her son and brought her daughter-in-law home.

On the night of 15th Aug, Tuesday, Nadeem came home in an ‘inebriated state’ and the entire family was there in the house. Mankhurd police spoke to Hindustan Times and said,

“Anwari realised that Nadeem would become violent and ordered her sons and daughters-in-law to sleep in the neighbour’s house.

Nadeem could not tolerate this and after everyone had left, he began beating his mother. She took the beating.”

Nadeem was beating his own mother for a very long time. As soon as he got tired, Anwari pushed him towards the steel ladder. She then strangled his neck with a duppatta.

She lay there with the body of her dead son all night. When her daughter-in-law returned to the house from their neighbour’s home, Anwari confessed her crime. She further confessed to the police that she did it to save her daughter-in-law from the evil grip of her own son.

She is now booked under under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code.

My mind fails to comprehend the crimes the son must have committed that his own mother had to take this step.
