Mizoram MLA Performed Emergency Surgery To Save A Woman Because Govt Surgeon Was On Leave

Our politicians NEED to be educated. This story is the biggest reason why.

Dr. K Beichhua, an MLA from Saiha district, Mizoram decided to save a life of a woman when no surgeon was around to help her.

A 35-year-old woman had a large hole in her abdomen and was in severe pain. She needed emergency surgery but the surgeon at the government hospital in Saiha was out of town for a training programme. That’s when Dr. K Beichhua decided to come to the woman’s help.

If the emergency surgery was not performed, she would have died.

Dr. Beichhua is an MBBS graduate from the Regional Medical College in Imphal. He has performed hundreds of surgeries when he was practicing medicine.

He graduated in 1991 and was a general practitioner for 20 years before he entered politics.

And as for the woman, she is hale and hearty, quite literally.

The MLA-doctor went to check on her progress after the surgery.

“I visited her on Thursday and she was laughing.”

There is a severe shortage of doctors in the state of Mizoram. Dr. Beichhua was speaking about the issue when he narrated this incident.

It’s good to know there are politicians who will come to help their citizens when they most need them. This woman certainly did, and she will be eternally grateful for an incumbent like Dr. Beichhua.

He is the perfect example of how a politician should be – educated, helping and with a humane heart.
