Millennials Are Busting Myths By Getting Into Things That Were ‘Not Meant For The Young’

Expectations lie heavy on us. We’re expected to act our age. The world expects us to sway while sipping on a beer, they expect us to be silent and observe, they expect us to be carefree, to forget the conditions in the world by kicking around a ball or watching TV. But we Millennials are constantly learning by asking countless questions, we worry the right amount because we’re aware of our responsibilities to the world and we care enough to make a difference.

Because we’ve learned to aim for the stars and we don’t plan to stop.

1. We know how to hold our scotch

We don’t point randomly at an expensive looking bottle of Scotch. We know the place and time of origin of our favourite scotch. We can hold our drink and not gulp to feel drunk. We drink for the taste and not for the high.

2. We’ve swapped our badminton rackets for golf clubs

We’re constantly trying for a hole in one but we haven’t forgotten about working on our backswing. We spend our summers on the golf course instead of paddling on the beach. We network constantly and find new connections to learn more everyday.

3. We’re all for growing long beards and bidding adieu to our clean shaven ways

We choose to keep a long beard because we can handle the responsibility of one. We believe in grooming, not convenience. Even though our mothers might chase us with scissors, we believe we’re making a statement worth putting out there.

4. We’ve learned to invest smartly instead of letting our salary live in our savings account

We’ve learned our way around the finance world and made better choices when it comes to investing our savings. Whether it’s property, the share market or better schemes, we’ve found a way that suits our lifestyle.

5. We’re saving for trips abroad instead of driving to Lonavala

In our limited salaries we make way for our dreams. We save every rupee we can spare, we avoid the vacations that deem unnecessary, all so we can hog on Gelato in Rome, watch the sunset from the Eiffel Tower or discover the beauty of Machu Picchu. We choose to make luxury a possibility because we can.

6. We’re on our way to becoming entrepreneurs and giving up our corporate IDs

We’re doing the grind and paying our dues in the industry but we haven’t forgotten what we started with, a dream to build our own empire. And so we’ve gathered confidence in ourselves to take the flight, no matter how scary or new, we’re going to make our dreams a reality. Because being your own boss in your 20’s is the dream!

7. We’re living by ourselves in unfamiliar cities

We’re moving across the country, some of us even across the world to pursue our dreams. We’re learning to do our own laundry, cook our own food and pay our own rent. We’re independent and we love it!

8. Inventing something that matters

We’re developing apps, games, software, designs that will help us grow, that will prepare the future generations for a world we see coming, so that they can break stereotypes and myths, just like us.

9. Making the world a better place

We’ve tied ourselves to a social cause, one that we believe in. We’re trying to make the world a better place, one good deed at a time even at 20. Because we know every drop in the ocean counts and there is no age limit for that.

10. We’re voicing our opinions on issues that people assume we won’t understand

Whether it’s through social media or in a debate. We’re on top of the current happenings but not just in a passive way but we have our own opinions on matters that affect us and the world at large. And we aren’t afraid to voice those opinions, irrespective of our experience and age.
