Hollywood just hosted its 74th Golden Globes Awards and it was one like none other. While we had a typical East meets West adaption, Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone are blurring all the lines that divide Bollywood and Hollywood.
However, Hollywood royalty, Meryl Streep with her lifetime award accepting speech reminded us of everything, Bollywood doesn’t have an- opinionated voice.
Meryl was honoured with the Cecil B. DeMille Award at the gala and she took the moment to call out President-elect Donald Trump and his lack of empathy (when he mocked a disabled reporter) and her speech left the audience moved and teary-eyed.

She also expressed her feelings about racial diversity, sighting her co-stars and colleagues and the entire gala was filled with awe.
After being lauded in the West, her speech and sentiments have crossed seven seas and now Indians are passing the bucket to B-towners and asking them to follow suit.

5. WHY?

However, a certain sect of Bollywood was quick to lap up the wisdom and share it with the world, the irony we live with.
1.Couldn’t wish for anything better!
I wish we had someone with the courage to feel so deeply, and speak so openly and clearly, here as well. Thank you, #MerylStreep . https://t.co/9owB6PKjFU

2. Most definitely!
We in our film industry don't even need to give a speech like Meryl Streep if we just start standing up with those who actually speak up.

3. PLEASE.

4. Very few, in fact.
More reason to love #MerylStreep. 'Active empathy' is a choice that few make. #Respect https://t.co/NavfZYcUzv

The juxtaposition apart, Meryl was the best thing about the Golden Globes this year. Meryl Streep is the best thing about the world, right now! A lifetime achievement award suddenly seems so small.
