8 Mantras Of Successful People They Don’t Teach You At School

Ask the successful ones of their journey to glory and a major part of their story will consist of the many hardships they faced in their ride. So yes it is a given, Gold cannot come to life until it has been dug out and refined.

But despite crossing all the hurdles, some of us stand on the bottom step of the success ladder, and the reason behind that is the absence of certain mantras whose importance you and I fail to understand. And the ones who do understand and practice them, become a Barrack Obama or a Mark Zuckerberg.

So, why should we stay strangers to such mantras?

1. Begin your day by solving most difficult problems first

The American author who touched hearts of millions around the world with his words once said, “Eat a live frog first thing in the morning, and nothing worse will happen  to you the rest of the day.” – Implying the importance of dealing with the most difficult problem first thing in the morning. Because once you deal with and get rid of your worst of fears, your journey through the day becomes smoother.

2. Failures have clues of success hidden in them. Learn from them.

Oprah Winfrey once said, “There is no such thing as failure. Failure is just life trying to move us in another direction”, implying that failure is an integral part of the journey to success. It is bound to happen. And it is of utmost important for us to learn from our failures and take the next step accordingly.

3. Brain dump- Get rid of unnecessary thoughts by writing them out

You need to allow your brain to take daily dump, and the best way to do this is by writing your task for the day, no matter how big or small it maybe, on a piece of paper. It is a good practice to come up with ideas but holding them tight is not, and here comes in the role of Brain Dump technique.

This practice aids your mind in getting rid of the clutter of unnecessary thoughts so that more attention can be given to prioritizing ideas.

It is also one of the top management methods mentioned in the ever-popular book, ‘Getting Things Done’ by David Allen

4. Wear a uniform- Why exhaust yourself in the mornings thinking ‘what do I wear today?’

When you google search images of Mark Zuckerberg or Steve Jobs, the initial search results will show Mark in his usual grey t-shirt/hoodie and Mr. Jobs in his black turtleneck sweater. And the reason behind them wearing a uniform is to not waste their thoughts over something that is not important.

The Facebook founder and an arduous follower of this technique puts it best, when he says, “I feel like I’m not doing my job if I’m spending any of my energy on things that are silly or frivolous about my life.”

5. Follow your Instincts because they are the best guides

This one is known by all of us but little do we follow it. Successful people are so because they listen to what their instincts have to guide them. If there is something that they don’t sense right, they won’t go forth with it even when the entire team is on board with the idea. And same goes vice versa.

In the Foundr magazine, entrepreneurial genius Marie Forleo said, “The people that I see that are so successful, that’s what they’re able to do. They’re able to listen to their own instincts outside of the noise, and they’re able to go in a different direction and not self-doubt when they do.”

6. Help others to help your success

The rule of Give & Take is a must to follow when seeking success. Being a competition freak at workplace can backfire but being yourself and sharing knowledge selflessly can take you places.

In his book, Adam Grant talks about how helping others carrying zero expectations can bring success.

7. Don’t wait for the perfect moment. Make your ideas a reality TODAY.

We all have the power of dreaming and believe it or not, we all have at least at some point of time thought of ideas that could have been revolutionary had we made them a reality. But how many of us actually went ahead with them? That’s what has made all the difference between the clan of successful people and the rest of the world.

Scott Belsky, the co-founder of Behance puts it perfectly- “It’s not about ideas. It’s about making ideas happen.”

8. Ask yourself a question at the start of every day
