Terrorism sucks! The one troubling question- “When can be the next attack on Indian soil be and will we fight with it to curb it?” can be really disturbing. But in India, the question isn’t even deemed worthy of being asked as a reasonable line of inquiry. It can generate a lot of complicated answers.
On top of that, we have our honorable Defense Minister, Mr. Manohar Parrikar speaking at the Aaj Tak Manthan conclave in New Delhi stating that he would take “proactive steps” to meet any threat to the country, he said “You have to neutralise terrorist through terrorist only.” Stressing his point further, he quoted a Hindi saying “kaante se kaanta nikaalte hain” and said: “Why can’t we do it? We should do it. Why my soldier has to do it all the time?”
He further added that this government is different from the previous one because it has given the Army a free hand to tackle terrorists through intelligence. He said the Army has been given standing instructions to shoot armed infiltrators, ensure minimum collateral damage and no loss of life of its own.
Also, the aerospace experts had claimed that 126 Rafales should take the place of MiG-21. Rafale is heavy, expensive and capable to replace a cheap, light, utility fighter like the MiG-21. However, our Defence Minister stressed on ordered just 20 Tejas fighters from Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd (HAL) claiming that he was satisfied with it to a certain level.
India’s defense capabilities good enough?
