Mahavir Phogat Slams Javed Akhtar After He Calls His Daughters ‘Hardly Literate Wrestler’

The Gurmehar Kaur row has caused a lot of stir on social media. While half of the population stands with her fight against ABVP and her year old video vouching, “Pakistan did not kill my dad, war did”, the other half is expressing its dissent over the entire debate.

Joining the brigade against the debacle, few celebrities, including star athletes like Virender Sehwag, Yogeshwar Dutt and Phogat sisters have come out and spoken against Gurmehar’s idea of nationalism.

And Yogeshwar Dutt contributed with another, 

 

While Babita Phogat was quoted saying,

“Gurmehar Kaur’s view that her father was killed by war and not Pakistan was wrong for me. It’s against our nation and martyrs.”

 

Even, elder sister Gita Phogat said, 

And this in itself has created another uproar. So much so that the jibes that are being exchanged on the field of Twitter now have registered themselves in the category of innumerable. And one such give-take has grabbed eyeballs…

 

Recently, Javed Akhtar allegedly took a dig at the athletes defending Gurmehar and called them ‘hardly literate’.

And now legendary coach and Babita’s father, Mahavir Singh Phogat has taken offence and slammed Javed Akhtar for his condescending words.
