People Are Waiting In Long Queues To Sprinkle Water From This “Magical” Handpump In Punjab

Superstition is a kind of leech that once stuck, stays forever. It has been redefined altogether by these people in Punjab.

Roughly 70 km from Chandigarh, there is a road which takes you to this “magical handpump”. The belief is that its water can cure all your wounds and end all your griefs.

It’s been only little over a month that the handpump has grabbed all the attention and visitors are coming from as far as Delhi already.

The people of Tarksheel Society have been campaigning against the superstition, but the visitors are not bothered and are flocking to the place turning deaf to what the rationalist group of Tarksheel Society have to say.

People have been waiting in  long queues as long as a kilometer to get the water from the handpump. “This water does not have any religious or scientific background. We have got it tested,” said Baldev Jalal, a representative of the society. However, the locals seem to turn deaf to anything and everything that comes in the way of the “magic handpump”.

There are tents being put up for the “devotees” to rest and get some shade from the scorching heat as well. Some volunteers are also taking up the responsibility to control the crowd to prevent quarrels over who gets to the handpump first.

There is also a super cool facility to take the water home in the bottles that these vendors are selling. Looks like, with superstition comes a lot of business opportunities!

It’s 2016 folks, the handpump water is not ‘magically’ going to wash away your griefs or make you rich overnight. All it can do is probably clear the gobar stuck onto your sandals.

If only you could remove the gobar (called superstition) stuck in your head
