We are still waiting for the day when people finally accept menstruation as a simple biological incident. Just like peeing and sweating.
But until that day comes, we will have to contend with old and outdated fools like this Congress leader from Kerala who stated something that does not have a place in the 21st century.
M M Hassan said that women are impure during menstruation. He also went ahead and said that they should not enter the temples at this time.
A reporter asked him why women are not allowed to enter Sabarimala temple while they are menstruating.
“Menstruation period marks days of impurity’’
Understandably, the women at the meet were horrified by this statement and one of them even said – “If menstrual blood is impure, the same blood is flowing through your veins.’’
But in the true politician style, the regressive man stuck to his words and opinion.
But he did later try to defend himself by saying that the statement was not a personal opinion, but a reference to the present social situation.
Which just sounds like total bullshit.
We need to start electing individuals with a sound education in science and not ridiculous politicians like this Congress chief who is still sitting in a time capsule in the year 1880.
