Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami, a Special Forces Commando of the Army is dead a martyr.  He laid down his life while fighting militants in Handwara district on 3 September 2015.

Who is Lance Naik Mohan Nath Goswami?
He was a Special Forces Commando of the Indian Army. The Special Forces refer to units which work under the direct command of the Indian Military and they are specially trained, equipped to carry out special operations – operations that are usually conducted  in a low-profile manner against a suspecting target.
He volunteered all operational missions that were undertaken by his unit. He was also a part of many successful counter-terrorist operations held in Jammu & Kashmir.
Early days
Hailing from a village Indra Nagar in Nainital, he is married and has a 7-year-old daughter. In the year 2002, he volunteered to join the elite Para Commando, a very especial unit of the Indian Army. During his tenure here, he went ahead and gained the reputation of the toughest soldier of his entire unit.
What did he do?
His valor act includes killing 10 terrorists and catching 1 alive in just 11 days. Also, during these last 11 days, he was involved in 3 counter-terrorism operations in Kashmir.
His list of operations:
First operation
Date: 23 August
Place:Â Khurmur, Handwara
Result: killed 3 LeT terrorists who originated from Pakistan.
Second Operation
Date:Â August 26 and August 27
Place:Â Rafiabad, Kashmir
Result: This was a second back to back operation. This also led to killing of 3 more LeT terrorists. Sajjad Ahmad alias Abu Ubaidullah (Lashkar-e-Taiba militant ) was captured alive in this particular operation.
Third Operation
Date: Exact date is not known.
Place: A dense forest of Hafruda near Kupwara.
Result: 4 more terrorists were dead in a heavy gun battle. He died in this operation.
3 operations, 11 days and 10 terrorists dead. Such a tough soldier and a true definition of valor.
Military Honours
He will be flown by an IAF Aircraft to his hometown in Bareilly and then taken to his native place where he will be cremated with full military honour.
After reading his commendable deeds which are brimming with valor, it is sad that he is no more between us. Nonetheless, he deserves great respect. May he rest in peace.
