Assam Journo Tweets Pic Of Women Buying Alcohol At A Liquor Shop, Gets Royally Bashed

After centuries of fighting for equal treatment in the society, women have somewhat started to scratch the surface of the fight against sexism. However, despite struggling so much to do away with the status gap between both genders, the conditioning meted out to boys as well as girls serve as a hindrance in our path.

Today Nandan Pratim Sharma Bordoloi, an anchor of Assamese news channel ‘News Live’, tweeted a picture on the occasion of Saraswati Puja. The tweet had a shocking and debatable caption, to say the least. The post has been deleted at the time of publishing this article.

Now, I am not one to judge a person so quickly but the “Picture of the day” seems to point towards blatant sexism prevalent in our society. A lot of netizens too, read between the lines of the seemingly ‘No caption’.

If you know anything about the Internet, you’d know that it did not take people too long to call him out. An enraged bunch quickly hopped on the tweet and started calling out his hypocrisy.

1. Shaming him for lacking ethics.

2. Saying it like it is.

3. Truly!

4. Well, he does seem to be living in a different one.

5. Who can forget that?

6. Grow up.

7. Sarcasm to the rescue.

8. Word.

9. Translation: Are you jealous that the girls have come out of the shackles of the conventional social norms? Please start thinking like a grown-up.

10. Exactly!

11. That is precisely my question.

12. Hypocrisy in the media is definitely a threat.

13. Yeah, this guy speaks for all of us.

14. We are ashamed.

Shortly, after this massive backlash, the journalist deleted his tweet. But is it too little, too late? There is no denying that your tweet history doesn’t need to be changed but your mentality does. What do you think?
