The showbiz creates a lot of headlines day in and day out, but there is hardly anything that shocks us anymore. Having said that, the death of Jiah Khan of Nisabdh fame was anything but usual. In fact, the details of the aftermath were unlike any piece of ‘news’ that Bollywood churns out.
Just to jog your memory, Jiah Khan was found hanging from a ceiling fan at her Juhu residence in Mumbai in 2013. Allegedly it was her relationship with Bollywood actor, Sooraj Pancholi that prompted her to end her life.
Four days after she committed suicide, a six-page suicide letter was also discovered by her sister which mentioned her plans to end her life and after a painful abortion. And this was years ago. Today, the case is still waiting to see the light of justice, as family and friends grieve the demise of their dear, Jiah.
Now, Jiah’s mother, Rabia Khan who has been fighting for justice ever since has written an open letter to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and it is heart-wrenching. According to Indian Express, the bereaved mother wrote,
I submitted my application to the trial court through State-appointed Special Public Prosecutor, Dinesh Tiwari who knows the history of this case from the beginning. Following this submission, CBI has been trying to remove SPP Tiwari and to replace him with one of its own prosecutors who has no knowledge about the case and has been displaying a hostile attitude towards me.
Recently, when my application to submit key evidence and forensic expert reports was argued in the trial court, the CBI, along with the accused, strongly opposed their recognition by the court. Now the main point is that if the CBI, who has joined hands with the accused, is not with the victim and not willing to cooperate with me, then how is justice going to be served?
Rabya Khan.
I don’t know about you but this just breaks my heart.
How and when any help will reach Rabya Khan? Only time will tell, but until then, let’s hope it is speedy. Let’s hope that Jiah’s gets her justice.
