Apple iPhone 7 Catches Fire And Burns Owner’s Car Interiors To A Crisp

You’ve gone off on a casual stroll and have left your phone in the car. When you get back, your car is up in smoke, and the phone is burnt beyond recognition. Such was the story of a lot of owners of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. Another user recently faced a similar fate but this time, his device wasn’t made by Samsung.

An iPhone 7 in Australia caught fire when the owner, Mat Jones left it in his car while going for surfing lessons.

When he returned, Mat found his car filled with smoke. Mat claimed that the phone had heated up and caught fire, burning the interior of the car to a crisp.

Mat’s iPhone was less than a week old when he left it wrapped up in a pair of pants in his car.

Apple is aware of the incident and will be conducting a thorough investigation regarding the matter.

It turns out Samsung doesn’t seem to be the only brand under fire anymore (see what I did there?). If I were you, I’d probably hold off buying a new smartphone until there’s more clarity on why so many of them are suddenly going up in flames.
