This Kid Is An Inspiration To Every Girl Who’s Been Told That She ‘Throws Like A Girl’

The society we live in, has for long, taught and told us things a girl shouldn’t do. From playing out in the sun to carrying a briefcase to work post marriage, there are several unwritten guidelines that bind young girls in casts that are age-old. And these regressive rules are the reason women fall prey to anonymity and gender discrimination.

Today, we are pushing the envelope for a digital India but I wish people understood, that nothing deserves our attention as much as this hindrance to progress does! While I say that, I also believe that WE, you and me, are our only shot at redemption. Let me convince you with an example.

Meet the young, Maithali Raj-in-making, who is giving us all the inspiration to live our dreams. In an insightful post shared by Humans of Bombay, this girl right here is giving hundreds like her the power to be. Read the post here.

“Everyday I used to come here and see only boys playing cricket. I went home and asked my dad why girls can’t play cricket. He told me, ‘there’s nothing in the world girls can’t do — if you want to play cricket and become a cricketer, no one can stop you.’ Since then, I’m here every evening, playing cricket and dreaming of playing for India some day.”

Our salute to her father who said things our society needs to hear. Also, I don’t know about you but I’ve taken my cue. *strums the guitar*
