1. (500) Days Of Summer

Whoever thinks that falling in love and then breaking up, or realizing that the person you love doesn’t love you back is the saddest tale of human heart, needs to watch this movie. This thorny yet exhilarating, funny and sad, a twisted journey of highs and lows will keep you hooked till the end.

Tom, a hopeless romantic card copywriter, falls in love with Summer, who dumps him later. The memories of his failed relationship have been shown in a very creative and engaging manner. Directed by Marc Webb, it stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel.

2. Eat Pray Love

Nobody likes change or getting out of their comfort zone. But you never know, you might find yourself there. Liz Gilbert (Julia Roberts), after realizing how unhappy her life is, decided to travel in search of marvel and to find that zest she has lost. After the painful divorce, she takes a long sabbatical from her job, risking everything to change her life.

In her glorious expedition, she experiences the pleasure of nourishment by eating in Italy; the power of prayer in India, and, finally and unexpectedly, the inner peace and balance of love in Bali.

3. The Bucket List

If you are having one of those moments when you think you are too old to do anything, then you have to stop everything and watch this film. Starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman, the story is about two terminally ill men, who set out on a road trip with a wish list they want to fulfill before they ‘kick the bucket’.

This amazing movie will definitely fire up that obscured spirit, which is hidden somewhere inside you.

4. 10 Things I Hate About You

A romantic comedy starring Julia Stiles, Heath Ledger, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Larisa Oleynik is a story about a new kid in school, who has to convince a guy to date the meanest girl in school. Why you ask? Because he has a crush on her younger sister, who can only date if her elder sister dates.

The love story can get you out of any ‘bad mood blanket’ you are hiding under. It’s deliciously 90’s!

5. The Blind Side

One of the most inspiring movies I’ve ever seen, The Blind Side is about Michael Oher and his journey from a homeless and traumatized boy to an All-American football player and first round NFL draft pick. With the help of a caring woman and her family, he is able to achieve everything he dreamed of. A must watch!

6. It’s A Wonderful Life

My all time favourite, It’s A Wonderful Life is classic bittersweet comedy drama about George Bailey, the eternally-in-debt guiding force of a bank in the typical American small town of Bedford Falls. During a bad time in his life, when George reaches utmost frustration, he is helped by an angel who shows what life would be like if he was never born.

This movie makes me believe that when everything seems to turn against you, having faith in yourself and the ones you love will get you out of any pickle.

7. The Shawshank Redemption

One of the best films of all times, The Shawshank Redemption is a tale of two imprisoned men who bond over various years, discovering comfort and possible recovery through demonstrations of common decency.

8. The Pianist

Another path-breaking movie which should be on your must-watch list whenever you want to feel inspired. The story is about a Polish Jewish musician, who survives the World War II holocaust and makes history. Directed by Roman Polanski, it stars Adrien Brody, Thomas Kretschmann & Frank Finlay.

9. The King’s Speech

There always comes a time, in everyone’s life, where they have to prove their worth. All you need that time is a great mentor, a steady support, and overflowing confidence. If you cannot put those ingredients together, you can get this movie and watch it.

King George VI of the United Kingdom has to prove that he is worthy of impromptu ascension to the throne, with the help of his speech therapist. Starring Colin Firth, Geoffrey Rush & Helena Bonham Carte, the movie is directed by Tom Hooper.

10. Julie & Julia

The story of Julie Powell who was drowning and how Julia Child’s cookbook rescued her is one heck of an entertaining, yet inspiring story to watch. 524 recipes in 365 days, the challenge has all the spices you’ll need for an upbeat turn of events. Meryl Streep & Amy Adams are to die for in this one (or every other one for that matter).

Binge-watching starts in 3… 2… 1… ?
