10 Indo-Western Fashion Trends You Should Definitely Try This Diwali

Diwali is approaching, so is another shopping spree. There are so many new things to buy, but first comes the outfit. I personally am not very fond of Indian wear. Not that it doesn’t look nice, I just feel more comfortable in a western outfit. But then again, my mother keeps saying that it is preferable if I wear Indian on Diwali. It goes with the mood etc.

So, this year, I decided to do something different. Indo-western is not a new concept, but these fresh ideas are going to help you as much as they will me. So, here are 10 Indo-western fashion trends you should definitely try this Diwali.

1. One Shoulder Jazz

It always works. Even a plain one shoulder dress/kurta teamed up with right accessories will make you look gorgeous. So, dig out those shiny danglers and beautiful bangles and team it up. To make it a little more Indo, you can add a custom border. It’ll look great.

2. The Koti Look

All you need is a good Koti (waistcoat/jacket) with a brilliant and Indian print. Once you have that, you can team it up with your plain tops (both with sleeves and sleeveless) or even long dresses. It looks very elegant and becomes even more gorgeous with right accessories.

3. The Net Shrug

If you are not fond of drapes and dupattas, a sleek outfit with ornamental shrug will look amazing. It’s minimal, sexy and has both Indian and Western elements in correct proportions. Team it with classy accessories and you are good to go.

4. Ethnic Trousers

Another chic and very comfortable choice. It’s Indian and you can team it up with a plain baggy top. Go for big tops earrings. You can also go for danglers depending on the pattern and neckline of your top.

5. Cut It Differently

If you like your clothes to be custom stitched, pitch a new sassy design this time. You can create your own fusion by experimenting with new lengths and neckline. For example, I absolutely love the one in the picture.

6. Ghagra & A Sexy Top

Replace your choli with a sexy crop top. Choose your colour wisely (you can experiment a lot with that) and get chunky accessories. You can also go minimal and use small/fewer accessories for a more sensuous look. It will be a hit. Believe me.

7. The Classic ‘Dhoti Salwar’

A good dhoti salwar paired with a sexy tank top is always a win. Get bold chokers or long necklaces to complete the look. Don’t forget your kajal and a bold bindi. You will look like a star.

8. The ‘Sheer’ Magic

I love sheer fabric. If is so elegant and yet so sexy. You can flaunt your belly button and make a statement back. You are going to be the show stopper for the night.

9. Brocade Never Goes Out Of Fashion

This time, do something different with the fabric. Instead of getting a stunning kurta stitched, get your bottoms stitched in brocade. Then, select a plain top/kurta and go for bold colours. You can try fabrics like silk or velvet. Make it edgy with a long slit or a really deep back cut.

10. Take Your ‘Long Skirt’ Game To A New Level

When it comes to Indo-western look, a lot of people go for the mundane long skirt and top look. So, if you have decided to go for it yet again, why not give it a different twist? The design in the picture is one example. You can also try long slits, thick border, mirror work or sheer fabric.

With that, I wish you all a very happy Diwali.
Hope these were helpful. Until next time… 🙂
