If you’d have been a little attentive, you’d have seen a video going viral by the end of the day’s break yesterday. And out of everything that trended on social media, the one I’m talking about is the most scathing one out of all. One that has not only drawn a lot of flak for its occurrence but has also raised a lot of questions on the hospitality of the sector that swears by it.
And if you haven’t guessed it already. I’m talking about the shocking video where the Indigo ground staff manhandled, dragged and assaulted a passenger at Delhi Airport after a verbal spat.
Here’s the video for reference.
#WATCH: IndiGo staff manhandle a passenger at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (Note: Strong language) pic.twitter.com/v2ola0YzqC

According to India Today, the man has been identified as Rajeev Katyal who reportedly got into a tiff with the ground staff of the airline after they objected to him taking shade under a plane’s wing while waiting for the carrier bus.
And the next thing you know, the staff had him on the tarmac, nearly strangulating him. However, the incident dates back to 15th October when 6E 487 flew into Delhi from Chennai. After alighting from the Airbus A-320.
Needless to say, the clip has angered the likes of many who condemned the act, demanding to boycott Indigo.
1. While the ‘goons’ have been terminated, people are asking for stringent action!

2. And it was the most popular opinion.
@Ashok_Gajapathi @jayantsinha #DGCA #Shameful act by @IndiGo6E staff. Manhandling the passenger is totally unacceptable. The Employee was trying to suffocate the neck of the passenger.Give them strong punishment https://t.co/Vgi6I9uw4N

3. Many even recounted how P.V. Sindhu had complained about Indigo airlines recently.

4. And the rest recalled how they have faced something similar.
Shocking but not surprising! I have found Indigo staff, normally, curt and unhelpful.

5. Even pleas were made to PM, Narendra Modi.
Sir the man like ur age only atleast once in a life take action again this typ of behaviour few days b4 pv sindhu now this 😤 @narendramodi

And these are only a few samples of the tweet-storm that took over innumerable timelines.
So much so that, the Indigo has now issued an apology stating the ‘how’ and ‘why’ in the aftermath. They took to Twitter to post this.
We condemn the actions of our staff & have taken stern action. We truly apologize for this. Such behavior is unacceptable – @AdityaGhosh6E pic.twitter.com/lGNT8An7rQ

“We condemn the actions of our staff & have taken stern action. We truly apologize for this. Such behaviour is unacceptable.”
Although the needful has been done, nothing changes the fact that a passenger was assaulted and that Indigo’s image has taken a hit. A brutal one at that.
