Born To Deaf Parents, 19 YO Akshay Becomes UK’s Youngest Millionaire In Just 1 Year!

Indians are known all over the world for their intelligence. We have made a mark in a number of fields. Including Mathematics, Science, Medicine, and Engineering etc. So it comes as no surprise that it is an Indian boy etching a name for himself in history.

Akshay Ruparelia, a 19-year-old, Indian origin boy has just been named the youngest millionaire of UK. His net worth is estimated to be around 12 million pounds (₹ 103.4 cr). How did he do it, you may ask. By selling houses during his school lunch breaks.

While kids his age were playing games and having fun, Akshay had already started a business which was a roaring success.

He started his website called Doorstep.co.uk. Within months he had investors buying shares. Akshay has now sold £100 million worth of homes.

He used to negotiate deals on his phone. So while he was in school he hired a call center service to take calls on his behalf.

Akshay started his company by taking only £7,000 as loan from his relatives. It became very popular. It has now become the 18th biggest estate agency in the UK. That too just 16 months after the website went live.

According to Mirror, Akshay had a sudden realization while studying for his financial studies exams. He was inspired by a biography of Ryanair founder, Michael O’Leary. He said,

“Mr. O’ Leary began by selling flights for just £4.99 and his point was that if you deliver what you say you will, you hook people in and your business will work.”

He said that other online estate agencies were charging home homeowners £800 and £1,000. He was confident that he could do it for a fraction of the cost. Talking about the first house he sold, Akshay said,

“I had to pay my big sister’s boyfriend £40 to drive me to take photographs of this man’s house. I had not passed my driving test, I did not have a car. I could not celebrate, i had to go home and revise for my exams. I got a domino’s pizza in as a treat.”

The most expensive house he sold for £1.4 million in Notting Hill.

Akshay has two deaf parents who cannot speak English. He learned sign language at a young age. His father, Kaushik is a care worker. His mother, Renuka is a teaching assistant for deaf children.

We are so proud of Akshay’s achievements at such a young age. He has motivated us to think out of the box and conceptualize new ideas. Who knows, maybe we become millionaires too.
