8 Indian TV Characters From Your Childhood You Can Dress Up As For Halloween

I remember the days when the whole family would sit to watch Aahat and The Zee Horror Show late at night on Saturdays. I would sit reluctantly – because they scared the crap out of me, but I loved to be scared too.

Today the whole television is full of high-quality horror shows and movies that make the horror material of that time appear funny.

But the point is, that they did scare us at the time, before the glitzy Hollywood walked in through the front door.

If we celebrated Halloween, we could have totally dressed up as these awesome characters.

1. The Evil Witch from Makdee

Do you remember her laugh? And her creepy haunted house? And her hands? It kept me kilometers away from an alleged haunted house through my childhood.

2. Kroor Singh from Chandrakanta

Yes, I found him scary. Partly because of his spiked hair, which was really strange, and this was before Aamir Khan in Dil Chahta Hai. And who can forget the memorable dialogue, “YAKKU!”

3. Tamraj Kilvish from Shaktimaan

Yep, I really thought he was the personification of true evil until I came across Sauron.

Andhera kayam rahe!

4. That clown from Woh

Remember the creepy clown from the show Woh? He haunted the town of Panchgani and the kids rid the hill station of his creepy presence.

5. The semi-tiger from the movie Junoon

I know the prosthetics in the movie looks really bad today, but at that time, when visual effects were almost unheard of, a man transforming into a tiger midway scared the bejesus out of me. good times.

6. That doll from Zapatlela

We had our own Chucky. And this doll did not look menacing at all. But it killed people in the movie and suddenly all dolls were creepy for me. Just look at the doll. Just look.

7. This woman from The Zee Horror Show

Zee horror show was more memorable because of their ridiculously gross looking ghosts. Every evil character in the show looked like a third-degree burn victim, and every one of them had white eyes. Scary at the time, though.

8. Betal from Vikram Aur Betal

I found Betal creepy AF. His creepy laughter and the way he rested on Vikram’s back, with Vikram not even feeling a little bit scared really bothered me.

I do not want to watch any of these shows ever again. Because I will probably not be scared of them anymore and that will spoil them for me. They were scary to me when I was a kid. Now that I have seen so many horror movies, I am too sensitized to appreciate the classic ones.

When will our film and television industry make more such characters that live through the decades, even when the show is long off the air?

Also, happy halloween!
