What is the first thing that pops into your mind when you think of Indian politicians?
Let me guess, old, fat people with absolutely no connection to fitness, right?
Well, it’s time to change your opinion.
Last night, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, took to Twitter to post this video of Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, Rajyavardhan Rathore. In the video, Olympic medalist Rathore was seen going through his gym routine.
While doing duty we’ve no time for physical fitness. But my Olympian colleague @Ra_THORe manages some time & gives me a tough challenge?pic.twitter.com/ZKDAa2B96F

After Mr Rijiju posted the video with such good words for him, Mr Rathore reciprocated with a tweet.
Ha ha ha…despite your hectic schedule, YOU are beyond competition AND are an inspiration. @KirenRijiju #IAmNewIndia 🇮🇳 https://t.co/iJ0gGHFEu1

This started a Twitter chat among our ministers with Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Vijay Goel, making a pretty cool comparison.
@KirenRijiju @Ra_THORe Our very own Rocky Balboa 😉

Soon, Railway Minister, Suresh Prabhu joined in with more words of praise for Rathore and Rijiju.
Getting intimidated by the huge commitment of @Ra_THORe & @KirenRijiju for fitness&rigorous regime they follow.Wish 1 could do bit like them https://t.co/pWdHg7JyaQ
— Suresh Prabhu (@sureshpprabhu) April 19, 2017
And the bromance was on like anything.
Sir @sureshpprabhu ji, we are happy and proud that YOU are keeping @RailMinIndia fit which is tougher anyday 🙂 #IAmNewIndia https://t.co/DDDVLKqnzF
— Col Rajyavardhan Rathore (@Ra_THORe) April 19, 2017
The mutual praising was not stopping early.
I take it as a compliment from one of the finest human being & most hard working Railway Minister India ever had. https://t.co/BR5JKyU0ss

Inspired by the gym routine and the bromance, Indian Twitterverse started applauding the ministers. Here are a few reactions.
1. Seems like it
@KirenRijiju @Ra_THORe Start of healthy India! Inspirational!
No one would have ever thought of seeing our minister doing pushups India is surely changing for good— Shveta S (@ShvetaSays) April 19, 2017
2. Then came a challenge for the Railway minister
@Ra_THORe @sureshpprabhu @RailMinIndia love this open, public camaraderie of our ministers… Now if u could get Mr. Prabhu to do 20 pushups on vid by next month.. @KirenRijiju

3. Well, he was an Olympian
Once a champion always a champion. @Ra_THORe is by far the fittest and the strongest lawmaker in India. #Respect 👍 https://t.co/HO6HnlJh8U

4. Meme game strong!

5. While this guy made a valid point
@Ra_THORe @KirenRijiju India should spend more on open gyms & playgrounds. In Delhi open parks used only for marriage tents

P.S- This was not the first time that Mr Rijiju posted pictures with his gym buddy. Here is a tweet from last year.
Just managed little time to remain fit & healthy with first Indian Olympic Silver medalist & MoS for Information & Broadcasting @Ra_THORe ji pic.twitter.com/Um4e42WlIw

And here’s a video of his workout. Pretty cool, ain’t it?
Message to the youths; Manage some time to work out, keep fit for a sound mind, stay away from drugs, live a healthy life. Health is wealth. pic.twitter.com/mQpJzpuDwb

I don’t know about fitness, but these ministers are sure giving #Bromancegoals to the nation.
On a serious note, I sincerely hope that this dedication to fitness by the ministers inspires more and more people in the nation to do the same.
