‘Rape’, ‘Murder’, ‘Humanity is dead’.
These are only a few examples of news that I begin my day with.
I read it, I curse myself for not being of help and then I continue with whatever I was doing. But while I am at it, I’m constantly telling myself that goodness has left our midst. But just when I thought that’s it, I came across two regular but extraordinary men… two policemen who have restored my faith.
Two Hyderabad constables, Venkatesh Naik and V Pratap Singh were given the bandobast duty at the Eidgah Mir Alam in Hyderabad where people thronged in hundreds to offer prayers for Eid.
But the cops did more than just that, including setting the makeshift mats right while the prayers were underway and using their uniform caps as a weight to keep it from flying away. Needless to say, the video uploaded by Hyderabad City Police has now gone viral with around 56,000 views and counting.
You might ask, ‘What’s the big deal?’ but let me tell you, it is these simple acts that move us and inspire us to do good, selflessly. In the words of Oscar Wilde, “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention.”
After everything that has been happening, wouldn’t you like that? People, just trying to do good? Thought so! Kudos to these men and their spirits. The world needs more like them.
