#HBOHacked: Online Group Hacks Facebook And Twitter, Posts Warning Messages From HBO Handles

HBO-Hacked-Again

Hacking, hacking everywhere. What’s HBO supposed to do?

People at the Home Box Office (HBO) just can’t seem to have a day’s rest, it seems. After having sleepless nights over the data hack, server hack, leaked scripts, and two leaked episodes, they have to brave another hack. That being of their social media accounts.

A notorious hacking group called OurMine, on Wednesday night (US), hacked all of HBO’s social media accounts and posted a warning message at 8 p.m. pacific time. (8.30 a.m. IST).

“Hi, OurMine are here, we are just testing your security ,HBO team please contact us to upgrade the security – ourmine .org -> Contact”

Not only that, from the hacked Game of Thrones Twitter handle, they wrote,

“Let’s make #HBOHacked trending!”

HBO was able to regain their access in under an hour’s time, and then deleted the warnings.

The hack affected all the connected social handles like, Game of Thrones, Last Week Tonight, Silicon Valley, Veep, Girls, Ballers, The Leftovers, The Knick, Vinyl, The Comeback, Real Sports, Looking, Outcast, Any Given Wednesday, Cinemax, HBO Docs, HBO Boxing, HBO Now, HBO Now Help, HBO Go Help, HBO Careers, and HBO.

This is not the first OurMine hack to have garnered news. Earlier they have hacked into high-profile social media accounts of Netflix, Marvel, Sony Music, and have hacked Google, Twitter and Niantic CEOs accounts as well. Usually, their hacks are for the advertising purposes of their commercial services.

But, when it was a cue to make #HBOHacked trend, Tweeple just couldn’t resist the itch. They did make it trend for a while with their jokes.

1. Mr. Robot is having the laugh?

2. Shame is the most used word this month, we guess.

3. That they sure do!

4. HBO, right now!

5. Looks like it!

6. Game of Hacks! *sigh*

And, this is exactly in sync with our sentiments for Team HBO and the makers of all the shows, not only GoT.

Let’s just hope HBO’s hacking counts end here.
