Stephen Hawking Shuts Down Piers Morgan And Gives Him A Lesson On Women Empowerment!

While he might be the world’s most renowned theoretical physicist of our times, Stephen Hawking favours general acceptance over scientific proof when it comes to feminism.

In a recent interview with British news host Piers Morgan, who has a reputation of sparking controversies on Twitter, Hawking schooled Morgan on the topic of gender equality. In the past, Morgan has called women march supporters ‘rabid feminists’ and has even trolled Indian athletes for their Olympic performance before getting a fitting reply from Virender Sehwag.

Referring to the Queen, British PM Theresa May and others, Morgan asked Hawking if the rise of women in United Kingdom’s politics is a ‘scientific evidence’ of gender equality. To which Hawking had an apt reply.

Adding German Chancellor Angela Merkel into the equation, Hawking further added that women are now gaining important roles and positions all across Europe.

“If we factor in high-power women in Europe as well, such as  Angela Merkel, it seems we are witnessing a seismic shift for women to accede to high-level positions in politics and society.”

Adding to his thoughts, Hawking said that while he is elated with the idea, there is still a long way to go.

“I welcome these signs of women’s liberation. But there may still be a gap between those women achieving high public status and those in the private sector.”

Poking Hawking further to get a controversial quote, Morgan asked him point-blank if he is a feminist. Perhaps he didn’t notice that the man sitting in front of him is a true genius, not a Twitter egg he usually encounters.

“Yes, I have always supported women’s rights. I moved the admission of women to my college, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. The results were wholly good.”

Here’s the video of the interview, uploaded by Good Morning Britain.

Guess Physics is not the only thing we can learn from the great Stephen Hawking.
