“I Won Every Award Except Filmfare.” Harshvardhan Lashes Out For Losing To Diljit Dosanjh

The Filmfare awards are arguably the most prominent accolades in the Indian film industry. Winning one is considered a mark of prestige and a solid vote of confidence in your talent. However, there have been several rumours floating about, alleging that the awards are rigged. Adding further fuel to these rumours was Rishi Kapoor’s confession of purchasing his first Filmfare award.

Most recently, Harshvardhan Kapoor, who made his acting debut in the 2016 film, ‘Mirzya’, expressed his dismay for not winning the Filmfare award for ‘best debutant’. The award was instead given to Diljit Dosanjh for ‘Udta Punjab’.

Here’s what the debutant had to say:

“I won every award except Filmfare. Some awards have a jury and they decide. Some have a popular vote. I don’t know how they decided this year. I think debutant awards should be for people who are relatively new to films. Otherwise, it is like saying I have done 100 English films and now I am doing a Hindi film so I am a debutant. So if Leonardo Di Caprio wins an Oscar and then comes to do a Bollywood movie, he is a debutant which is not something I agree with.

A Twitter user remarked that Harshvardhan was acting a little too entitled and the actor responded furiously.

What do the readers think of Harshvardhan Kapoor’s public outrage? Was it justified?
