Real Life ‘Dolly Ki Doli’: 2 Gujarat Brides Con Their Husbands And Run Away With Lakhs

Marriage, like they say, is a sacred vow between two individuals who promise to together together through thick and thin. Regardless, there are many people who see marriage as something that they need to strike off their bucket list to get through life. 25 me shaadi, 32 me bacche aur 55 me bacchoon ki shaadi.

In my humble opinion, when life gives you an option to be single – you should just shut-up and jump right at it.

Because of their blind faith in an agent’s promise to get them married, two guys of Gujarat lost their money and their wives. Sure sounds like a scene from a movie, but trust me it’s not.

Rupesh Chavda, a Rajkot based man, was not getting married at the age of 31 because of his dark complexion. On the suggestion of his relatives, he approached an agent to find him a bride with the compensation of Rs. 1.11 Lakh. In an interview with TOI, he said,

“I was getting rejected by girls because of my dark complexion. My father had died about a year-and-half ago. I had to pay for a wife and got trapped.”

But it all went down the drain, when he came to know that his new bride was a con artist. Woman identified as Rinku Vaghela, was the one who married Chavda and then disappeared on him in a week.

Chavda registered his marriage in Mirzapur court in Ahmadabad. But that piece of legal document didn’t help him at all as a man from Patna claimed that Rinku is his wife.

Another man, Guarang Merani, a 31-year-old Wankaner resident was unable to find a suitable match in his caste. He also took the help of the nearest agent, who asked him to pay Rs. 1.22 Lakh. Merani said,

“We were put in touch with a woman called Farida by one of our community members. We met the girl who identified herself as Neha.”

Police is shocked as both the cases are extremely similar. They have summoned the so called ‘agents’ and are locating other con artists. Police also suspects that there might be a bigger web and this might probably be a bigger racket.

Why is our society so noncomprehending about marriages? There are no agents that can tell you who you are most compatible with. It’s sad that even marriage, something so personal and sacred, is now a gamble of lives.
