This Patriotic Hotel Gives Generous Discounts To Our Army Jawans. What A Noble Gesture!

Travelling on the Pathankot-Dharamsala Road in Himachal Pradesh, you come across a homely and welcoming hotel named Gopal Hotel and Restaurant. But as you step inside, you’re greeted with an unusual signboard, and you cannot help but feel proud of the owner Ishan Sharma.

Gopal Hotel have offered flat discounts of 25% and 50% for Army personnel staying in their hotel without uniform in service and with uniform respectively.

This heartfelt display of patriotism and respect for our army personnel hasn’t gone unnoticed and social media is abuzz with this gesture of owner Ishan Sharma.

 

We called up Mr. Sharma to ask him a few questions about this patriotic initiative of his, and this is what he had to say.

When did you think of starting this initiative?

Around two months ago.

 

What was the inspiration behind offering these discounts?

The inspiration as such was very simple. None of our family members have ever enlisted for the Army, but there are hundreds of soldiers out there who die serving their country, and risk their lives on the battlefield. This is the least we, as citizens, could do to help them and show them our support.

 

Have Army personnel actually come down to avail of your discounts?

Oh, yes. Definitely. There is quite some traffic of Army personnel round the year here, because most of them going to the Jammu-Kashmir area pass through this route. So we would have at least 4 to 5 Army men coming in here in an average week. Sometimes an entire family would also come down.

 

What has the response been like from them when they have availed of these discounts? How have the other guests reacted to it?

They’ve all been very happy and proud that we are indirectly doing our bit for the country in this way. They say that in today’s world, no one would even think of doing such a thing, and the fact that we do this for them doesn’t go unnoticed by them. Even non-Army guests who come here round the year always wish us good luck and commend us for our good service.

 

Did you know that this initiative of yours is all over social media, and positive comments for your hotel have been pouring in?

Frankly speaking, I had no idea that this little service of ours has gone viral, and I’ve only just been getting messages and phone calls from my family and friends when they’ve gone through Facebook and seen our signboard crop up everywhere. It’s just been 3 or 4 days, but the response we’ve gotten is very positive, and this has just strengthened our resolve in continuing this initiative.

This is one of the first kinds of initiatives for army personnel and we are proud of Mr. Sharma and Gopal Hotel for their good work.
