In the realm of fake news has dawned upon us and how. I mean, in a sea of Whatsapp forwards and unscrupulous ‘Breaking’ news, the line between real and fake. And the chances of falling prey to these unverified claims is more often than you think.

Remember when the Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry, Kiran Bedi made a boo-boo after posting a video of an elderly woman claiming it was PM Narendra Modi’s mother? If you haven’t guessed it already, there is an addition to the already list.

But before anything, I’m interested in knowing if you have come across a beautifully lit Golden Temple, amidst innumerable paper lanterns. You know, just like these tweeps on Twitter.

1. ‘Stunning.’

2. ‘Beauty.’

3. ‘Absolute heaven.’

Even Big B took to Twitter express is exasperation!

But as it turns out…the otherwise too-good-to-be-true image is not true after all!

That’s right. All thanks to investigators in the Twitterverse got together to scrutinise the picture. See for yourself.

1. Lo karlo baat.

2. Fake pic alert!

3. Well-played!

So much so so that, the maker of the marvel came out in the open claiming the same. He also stated that it is a piece of art and not a trick to fool people.

With increasing occurrences of mis-identitity and mis-information, it’s high time we process the raw data and crosscheck it before spreading the word. Don’t you think?
