“We did meetings and readings together before we started shooting. The first day of shoot was like Oh My God both for me and Alia Bhatt. It strikes you this is Shah Rukh Khan and you become aware of his personality.”

The English Vinglish director also remarked that despite being such an icon, SRK does not throw his weight around and is quite professional in his approach.

“Because of the person he is, he doesn’t come there with the baggage of being a star but he comes as an actor and puts in his best and helps all of us. He is so supportive. The first day went and it was stress free.”

It’s quite commendable that an actor of SRK’s stature is still cooperative and does not come with any kind of arrogance.

Gauri was also pleasantly surprised that Shah Rukh did not alter her script in any way and respected the boundaries between an actor and a director.

“He is a director’s dream. If he had anything to do he would have done it early at the basic stage. We agreed on almost everything. We worked as a team and not thinking he is a super star.”

Even if the actor ever wanted to change anything related to the script, he would make a polite request and ask for permission.

It’s admirable that Shah Rukh Khan, one of the most talented and respected stars in the Indian film industry, still maintains such a high level of professionalism and modesty. It just goes to show that to survive for as long as he has, simply talent is not enough. You also need to be a decent human being.
