After the official ‘Sigils‘ teaser, HBO dropped another teaser, titled ‘Long Walk’ and we’ve absolutely lost our shit over it. Also, lost the count of as to how many times replay has been hit. Channelling my inner Sherlock, with each view there was a new question in mind. And, too much of fan-theory reading has put a lot of ideas in my head too.
The teaser begins with a heavy musical prologue of footsteps. First, comes Cersei’s shadow, then we see Jon Snow (who we’re sure still knows nothing), then we see Daenerys Stormborn Targaryen- Mhysa- Khaleesi (a girl has many names) and then we finally see Cersei Lannister lurking in the Red Keep to approach The Great Hall.
Here are some of the questions worth wracking your brains over.
1. Why is James’ Sit Down chosen as the music for the teaser?
The lyrics and the visuals sure match a lot with the shots of people in them. For Jon and Dany it is ‘Those who feel the breath of sadness, sit down next to me’. For Cersei it is ‘Those who find they’re touched by madness, iit down next to me’. Going literal, are we?
2. Daenerys is in Dragonstone or that throne is in the Iron Islands?
Has she finally reached the seat of the Targaryen? The formations and the background show extreme similarities with Dragonstone. But she was sailing to Westeros and joining forces with House Greyjoy, so it can be a throne in the Iron Islands too. Right?
3. Were those Lannister sigils there before in The Great Hall?
My memory isn’t serving me right, I guess, but I am pretty sure those lions were not there in the Great Hall before.
4. Isn’t Jon Snow looking a lot like Robb Stark?
Ok! Sounds absurd, but guys, it is GoT. And, that is the furriest coat you’ll ever see on the show. #JustSaying
5. Does the candle blowing out signify someone’s death?
We guess Cersei’s end is near. After all, remember the prophecy of Maggy the frog?
6. Cersei’s icy-blue cold breath signifies what?
It could either mean that Cersei’s death or does it point to the fact that Cersei will form an allegiance with the White Walkers? It can also mean that winter is here. What does it actually mean? ?
7. Why are all the teasers ending with White Walker’s icy blue eye?
Ok! We get it’s winter and the Great War is here. But then, we know every detail matters in Game of Thrones and this is a major clue. What does it signify? Only the rise of White Walkers or they taking over the Seven Kingdoms? Or there’s more to it?
We need answers and so many unanswered questions are damn unsettling. Why doesn’t winter come early? Earlier than July 16?
