The definition of news has gone through drastic changes over the years. I mean, yes, oddity was and is a characteristic of news but the term bizarre has only crept up now, and bizarre (read hilarious) is an understatement actually.
Now, I can you give you an already existing list of headlines under the category ‘WTF news’ but why don’t I elucidate further with a recent example? I kid you not, it is by far the wackiest I have ever come across.
According to Mail Online, a Transavia Airlines plane flying from Dubai to Amsterdam was forced to make an emergency landing in Vienna after a fight broke out mid-air.
No, it didn’t happen because the plane didn’t have a left phalange (I hope you are a FRIENDS fan).
A fistfight erupted on air between two passengers because one of them refused to stop, wait for it, FARTING!
Yes, you read that right.
Reportedly, It all went down when two Dutchmen objected to a flatulent co-passenger but despite their pleas and complaints to the plane’s crew, the man continued to break wind loudly.
The report also states that police boarded the aircraft upon landing after reports about ‘passengers on the rampage’ and four people were removed from the flight.
In fact, a spokesman for Transavia Airlines later told local media that the four people had now received a ban from any further travels.
While it is not certain if the flatulent person was a medical problem, I’m sure that congestion (sorry) must have worsened it up in the air! No?
