The Doctors Thought It Was A Tumour In Her Brain. Shockingly, It Was Her “Twin Sister”!

Meet Yamini Karanam, who is an absolutely normal person, except that she had her “evil twin” living in her. Now before your mind goes wandering off and comes up with ridiculous plot twists like that of the movie Alone, we suggest you read this:

Yamini, who is an Indian computer science PhD student from Hyderabad, studying at Indiana University, started having trouble last September. “Problems with reading comprehension, listening comprehension. If a couple people were talking in a room, I wouldn’t understand what was happening,” she was quoted as saying.

When her neuorologist and neurosurgeon started having conflicts, Karanam decided to take matters in her own hands and came across Dr. Hrayr Shahinian of the Skull Base Institute that specializes in minimally-invasive way of reaching deep into the brain and performing keyhole surgery to extract tumours.

What doctors discovered after that, came as surprise to Karanam herself. Her condition, a rare one, called “teratoma”, is a tumour of the brain, except this tumour is not cause by abnormal growth, but by remains of her embryonic twin that failed to develop, complete with bone, teeth and hair. Scary, right?

Yamini Karanam is expected to make a full recovery in only 3 weeks, and thankfully her “evil twin”tumour was benign.
