GoT Makers Have Confirmed The Series End After 13 Episodes And I’m Not Ready For This!

As the sixth season hurtled towards an epic end, Game of Thrones outdid itself with a fantastic and gripping storyline to amaze fans throughout the world. But this epic saga is soon to end, as showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss have confirmed in a recent interview.

Game of Thrones has just 13 episodes left, which will be divided into two seasons as the creators plan to wrap up one of the best shows of the decade.

“I think we’re down to our final 13 episodes after this season. We’re heading into the final lap.”

Benioff and Weise said that they aren’t planning to elongate the next two seasons as they are definitely nearing the end of the story. In a recent interview, Benioff was quoted saying,

“It’s two more seasons we’re talking about. From pretty close to the beginning, we talked about doing this in 70-75 hours, and that’s what we’ll end up with. Call it 73 for now. It’s not just trying not to outstay your welcome. We’re trying to tell one cohesive story with a beginning, middle and end. We’ve known the end for quite some time and we’re hurtling towards it.”

David further said that they have had an endgame in mind ever since the show started, and they have known the ending, so they’re gearing up to conclude the story for the fans.

“If people watched it end to end, it would make sense as one continuous story. We’re definitely heading into the end game now.”

Benioff and Weise agreed, saying that now that the pieces on the board are what they wanted them as, they want to end it without any unnecessary elongations. They wanted the show to be one continuous story, and that’s what they are going to do.

“The pieces are on the board now. Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game. The thing that has excited us from the beginning, back to the way we pitched it to HBO is, it’s not supposed to be an ongoing show, where every season it’s trying to figure out new story lines. We wanted it to be one giant story, without padding it out to add an extra 10 hours, or because people are still watching it.”

Now that season 6 has ended, and the story has completely surpassed the books, all we can do is wait and see how David and D.B. give shape to George R.R. Martin’s story.
