Reportedly, the 27-year-old LLM student, identified as Sumit Kumar, who failed to clear the judicial services exam started a website in an attempt to fool people into thinking that it was the Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD).

Kumar who was arrested after Delhi Police received a complaint from an undersecretary at MWCD expected to earn crores within a month through his website. In fact, he would have had it not been for the police.

According to BK Singh, DCP, New Delhi, he had advertised about 6,715 vacancies for different teaching positions and was even particular about the credentials. He said,

“The domain name of Kumar’s website, ‘wcdo.org.in’ appeared similar to WMCD’s original site, ‘wcd.nic.in’. It even carried the ministry’s logo without permission. The website carried the government’s helpline numbers for women and children.”

“The fee payments were to deposited to an ICICI account. We took the details of the account holder from the bank and nabbed the suspect. Initially, he tried to mislead us, but admitted on interrogation.”

The reports also state that the police are looking out for three other persons: two who had allegedly helped him set up the organisation and a web designer who helped him with the website.

When the brightest minds resort to committing crime, you know something is truly wrong with the way education is imparted in the country.
