By now, there is no one in our country or elsewhere who is unaware of the various forms of sexual harassment that women face every day. From exhibitionism to rape, there is nothing that women can escape from. Even after 5 years of the Nirbhaya case that shook the country, there seems to be no end to the horrors of the society.
A couple of days ago, a student of Delhi University (DU) was travelling from a DTC bus when the middle-aged man sitting next to her started masturbating. Since no one stepped up to help her, she recorded a video of the incident and shared on her social media.
According to a report by News Nation, the student then went to Vasant Vihar police station and lodged an FIR against the offender. She said,
“I was travelling in a crowded bus when a man sitting next to me masturbated. I was left stunned but then I made a video of the incident & posted it on social media to make people aware of the incident. People don’t even consider something like this a form of sexual harassment.”
Despite her complaint, the accused has not been identified or arrested yet. The police are on the lookout for him and believe that he must be a local resident.
The student had also tagged Delhi Police in her tweet. Swati Jai Hind, the Chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women said,
 “Had seen her shocking tweet and assisted her in getting FIR filed. That act caught on video was too sick. Worst is no one in bus came to her aid. Had called SHO Vasant Vihar to ensure immediate arrest. This man is a danger to society and should be given strong punishment!”
As soon as the victim posted the explicit video on Twitter, people were quick react and by that, I mean, be disgusted and angry.

This is surely not the first time a woman has experienced this kind of harassment. Truth be told, people sometimes fail to even recognize this as a form of sexual harassment. I feel sick to the stomach to even see the whole video, I commend this girl’s courage to endure the harassment, take a video, post it on social media and also complain to the police.
