Most people wait for the end of the month to splurge- that beautiful shirt you saw in the store window, that huge jar of Nutella you know you will finish in one day, or that long trip you were planning with your friends. But this universe is a weird, weird place.
Here are a list of the most expensive things in the world… and their price tag will make you feel faint. So I suggest you have a glass of water in hand, and a strong chair to support yourself, as you go through this list:
1. Most Expensive Dog
Such an adorable dog. Want to own it? Be ready to shell out $1,513,417 ! ( I don’t even have the guts to convert that to rupees) This 11-month-old red Tibetan mastiff sold by breeder Lu Liang to a Chinese multi-millionaire in March 2011, is the world’s costliest canine.
Total cost: Rs. 9.7 crore
2. Most Expensive Car
Nowadays, every decent set of wheels you wish to own, costs you at least half of your savings. Hey, but if you are one of those people who earns millions per year – a little splurging will do no harm! In October 2013, a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTO racer became the world’s most expensive car, selling to a private buyer for $52 million (£32 million). *_*

3. Most Expensive Television
What is your television made of? Some metal and plastic fused together with some paint thrown over it? BORING! The world’s most expensive television – The PrestigeHD Supreme Rose – is a 55″ HDTV with a base and outer frame made of 28 kilograms of solid 18ct rose gold. Oh, you know, had too much gold and the lockers were too full!
The outer frame is adorned with 72 brilliant round cut 1 carat IF Flawless diamonds and a mix of sunstone & amethyst, while the inner frame is made of hand sewn Alligator skin. This comes at a very very reasonable price of $2.27 million.
Total cost: Rs. 14.5 crore
4. Most Expensive Haircut
Think most girls’ haircuts cost way too much than necessary? Well, then I quite don’t know how to break this to you: Stuart Phillips at the Stuart Phillips Salon in Covent Garden, London, UK, offers a haircut that costs £20,000. Not dollars. Pounds. (I can see you converting it to rupees; Don’t even go there.)
People who spend £20,000 on one haircut… you know hair is basically dead cells, right?
Total cost: Rs. 19.5 lacs
5. Most Expensive Handbag
Called “1001 Nights Diamond Purse”, and encrusted with diamonds, it it valued at just under $4 million. Made of 4,517 diamonds, it took 10 artisans 1,1000 hours of work over four months to create this heart-shaped bag.
And to think we are scared of wearing a gold chain in public! Feeling poor yet?

6. Most Expensive Shoes
Got too many diamonds lying around? Why not make star-studded shoes then! Nick Cannon was said to have contacted Beverly Hills jeweler Jason Arasheben with a request for “the most expensive shoes in the world”… and he got a fine pair encrusted with 14,000 diamonds. The price, you ask? Oh just a measly $2 million.
And here we are, thinking up bargaining strategies while shopping. -_-

7. Most Expensive Coffee
Okay, I agree that “A lot can happen over coffee”. But what can happen over coffee that costs about $3000 per kg?! Priority Number 1: Make sure your date does not drink your coffee. Coming at such a steep price, you would have though it was cultivated by mermaids in some abandoned land under the sea. Instead, the coffee beans are eaten and defecated by an animal called the Asian palm civet (which looks like a combination of a bat & a rat – just saying), the feces are collected, and coffee is processed from it. Some critics claim more generally that Kopi Luwak is simply bad coffee, purchased for novelty rather than taste.

8. Most Expensive Bottle of Water
Now you must be wondering – how expensive can water get? Turns out, very. The most expensive bottle of water sold at auction was for $774,000 pesos, which is equivalent to $60,000 US (£39,357). The auction was organised by Plan3t Foundation A.C. in Mexico on 4th March 2010. The glass bottle is covered in 24-karat gold and is based on artwork by the late Italian artist Amedeo Clemente Modigliani. The funds raised from the auction were donated to the foundation to battle global warming.

9. Most Expensive Tooth… (yes you read that right!)
Every move a celebrity makes is highly documented. Everybody wants to meet them, everybody wants to be them… and also wants a part of them. Weird (and gross) things that have been owned/used by celebrities being sold at auctions is not new. The most expensive tooth sold at an auction cost £23,010 ($36,857), and reportedly belonged to John Lennon. It was bought by Dr Michael Zuk (Canada) at the Omega Auction House in Stockport, Cheshire, UK, on 5 November 2011.

10. Most Expensive Dessert
Everybody loves a good dessert – even though those 5 minutes of pleasure empty your wallet. Think that ice cream you paid for was too expensive? Try this: Serendipity 3 Restaurant on East 60th Street, New York serves a dessert called Frrrozen Hot Chocolate, which is priced at a very steep $25,000. It is a mixture of 28 different cocoas and milk, infused with five grams of edible 23-karat gold, and is served in a goblet lined with edible gold. The base of the goblet is an 18-karat gold bracelet with 1 carat of white diamonds. The dessert is eaten with a gold spoon, decorated with white and chocolate-colored diamonds, which can also be taken home. This uneconomical dessert – which will cost an arm, leg & a few different body parts for most people- was declared the world’s most expensive dessert by Guinness World Records.
