Delhi Woman Paraded Naked, Beaten With Iron Rods Because She Exposed A Liquor Racket. Shame!

Crimes and atrocities against women cover most of the part of the news screeching papers today. And while board-room discussions and debates are still going on about the legal provisions it revokes, we are far away from a civilisation that is safe for women, irrespective of their age!

And it is not just the society, unfortunately, it’s members who like to talk how the government has failed over tea, who is at fault. You and I are at fault, and everyone complicit in tolerating and ignoring abuse, both mental and physical.

Like that’s not enough, patriarchy and its dynamics somehow render a woman as the presumably ‘weaker sex’ who should be silenced if she tries to raise a voice. You think we’re too modern for this? Well, we are not!

In a soul-shattering incident, a 33-year-old woman was beaten with rods and paraded naked, by a mob of over 25 people in Delhi’s Narela, reports NDTV

Reportedly, her clothes were torn by other women of the locality who apparently were involved in bootlegging.

Why you ask? Because the brave woman helped the Delhi Commission of Woman (DCW) and police bust an illicit liquor racket.

It was because of her efforts that the local police confiscated 300 bottles of liquor from a house after they were provided information about it by DCW chief Swati Maliwal’s team.

The victim, while narrating her ordeal later, broke down and just goes to prove that we are monsters in the guise of humans.

“Unhone mere kapde phade mujhe sabke samne nanga kiya aur mujhe ghasit te ghasit te legaye. Maine koi gunaah nahi kiya, (bas) nashe ke khilaf aawaz uthai kyunki hamara bhavisya kaharb ho raha hai.”

Needless to say, the incident has given rise to a uproar. Even Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal met her and assured her all the help possible.

And after all, if you have the heart, you can watch her entire cry here.

THIS. This is the kind of world we live in, a world that doesn’t treat women like equals! Yes, her perpators will be dealt with justice (hopefully) but nothing will undo the night of horror she had to live.
