Horror movies scare us and are with us for some hours after it ends.
Then it loses its novelty. That is why the filmmakers slyly insert the line before the movie –
“Based on a true story.”
That gives us the scares, to realize that it somehow may be true, that the ghost may have actually existed.
And that is why scary documentaries are even scarier.
Please watch them at your own risk. Viewer discretion is advised. You might find some of them very disturbing.
1. Cropsey – a documentary about an unknown man who kidnapped children and tortured them
Many of the kidnappings are still not solved, and a serial killer was arrested later. But even he did not accept all the responsibility of the kidnapped children.
Then who was it? Is the Cropsey still alive?

9. The Nightmare – a film about the horrible condition of sleep paralysis where a person cannot move, while lying down and things happen
Sleep paralysis affects you in a horrible way – you are completely conscious but you cannot move. And people who suffer from this condition speak about the horrors that happen – watching ghosts violate them as they cannot do anything to aliens abducting them.
10. The Demon House – a film about the house that purportedly has a gateway to hell.
This is basically Exorcism – but in a documentary style. It seemed so authentic, the real house was destroyed and razed to the ground.
