Mumbai Court Sentences Model To 3 Years In Jail For Planning To Murder Madhur Bhandarkar

Known for his movies, ‘Fashion’, ‘Heroine’ and ‘Chandni Bar’, filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar must’ve taken a sigh of relief today as a Mumbai court found a model guilty of planning to murder him.

The Mumbai civil and sessions court today convicted model Preeti Jain and two others for plotting to kill filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar. Preeti has been sentenced to three years in jail and a fine of ₹10,000.

Her aides, Naresh Pardeshi and Shivram Das have also been sentenced to three years on charges of helping her.

 

Preeti has been convicted of paying ₹75,000 to gangster Arun Gawli’s aide as ‘supari’ for the job in 2005. However, when the job wasn’t done, she asked for the money back. This made Gawli alert the police of her actions.

Preeti has earlier accused the filmmaker of sexually exploiting her on the pretext of offering roles in his movies. However, the case was cancelled by a court in 2012 after she decided to drop all charges against him.

However, just after the decision was announced, Preeti sought suspension of the sentence. What happens next in the case still remains to be seen.
