Couple Gets Married 400 Feet Above The Ground And The Pics Are Drop Dead Gorgeous

They say your wedding is the most special day of your life. You can feel like a princess and that your happily ever after is finally coming true.

This California couple decided to spice up their wedding day and chose to say their “I Dos” 400 ft above the ground. Ryan Jenks and Kimberly Weglin chose to celebrate their union above the desert near Moab, Utah, where they both fell in love and later got engaged.

“Instead of ‘I do’s’, and I exchanged ‘HELL YEAHS!’ I think everyone was stoked. It was so fun to be able to take the traditional ceremony of marriage and turn it into something so completely ‘us’, down to every last detail”, says Kimberly on Instagram.

Their pictures are gorgeous and will literally take your breath away. (Though acrophobes fare warning, you might get a little too anxious looking at these!)

This @galialahav dress is the single most beautiful piece of clothing I’ve ever seen. When @_kimw_ first texted me photos of it, it was so different and unique I had trouble picturing something so glamorous in our rugged Moab desert, but I knew Kim is a visionary queen and if anyone could pull it off, she could. Sure enough, when we met them for their first look, she got out of their dirtbag white van and the moment I saw this dress in person, on her, in the Moab desert…my jaw dropped. I’ve never seen anything like it and whether she was hiking through the sand, climbing on rocks, or floating 400 feet in the air on the spacenet, she looked like a downright goddess. There were moments I was shivering in fleece leggings and a down jacket, and she was wrapped up in this custom veil compliments of her bridal boutique @kinsleyjamescouturebridal looking peaceful and glamorous and like she didn’t have a care in the world…because she didn’t. She was marrying her best friend, in the best place on earth, surrounded by the best people, and looked damn good. What more could you possibly want?

Yesterday still feels like a dream. @_kimw_ and @slackinhigh fell in love in Moab and got engaged in Moab, so it only made sense to them to get married here too. They planned the most amazing celebration and invited all the monkeys out to play. They were married on this spacenet (built by the amazing @sketchyandylewis), 400 feet above the desert, while friends walked high lines (zoom in to see someone in the background!), performed aerials on silks below, played music around, and flew a paraglider above. They even had BASE jumpers as “flower girls” leap off the edges of the cliffs with 5,000 flower petals in their packs. It was unreal. I am so beyond in love with this amazing community and stoked to see everyone’s creativity come together for Kim and Ryan. I hope you’re ready for my feed to be nothing but desert adventures for the next month 👏🏻 @galialahav @kinsleyjamescouturebridal

7. Candid and blissful. It’s true, happy brides are the prettiest!

One look at the #LilyRose gown by @galialahav and I knew it would hold its own in the magnificent desert setting we’d be getting married in. One look and a loud squeal, after months of looking for THE one, and I knew I had to wear this dress. Not only is it ethereal, beautiful, and detailed, it is feminine and STRONG. Sexy yet elegant. Different. And just so unexpected. Inspired by nature, this dress pushes limits, and that is exactly the feeling @slackinhigh and I wanted to create when planning our wedding. This isn’t just a dress to me. It is the embodiment of the energy that the GGBY festival creates every year. It is a representation of confidence, self-love, and life; the energy I want to surround myself with and carry with me into our marriage and throughout our lives together. 8. They are slacklining! Which is more or less walking on a bouncy, single piece of webbing that is suspended above the ground (they’re lying down here, but you get the point!)

9. The “Hell Yeah” moment!

In light of the last video I posted getting so much attention of @sketchyandylewis ‘dropping the rings’, I’m here to set the record straight: IT WAS A PRANK! 😛 We knew he was going to pretend to drop our rings because he kept joking about it during rehearsal, but we also knew that he had our real rings attached to a carabiner on a string around his wrist. So we just thought he was going to do a little fake out to mess with the crowd. But of course he had to go above and beyond 😂👏. He pulled out a quicklink with some washers on it, and dropped that through the net. (Don’t worry! We didn’t litter. All gear was retrieved from the bottom of the cliff by rappelling into the canyon.) Even though I knew our real rings weren't even made of metal, it still sounded and looked so real that I got worried for a minute. I think everyone on the net and in the crowd briefly thought the worst haha. The rings we exchanged on the net can be seen in the pictures above. (Zoom in to see them better.) I made tiny soft shackles out of 7/64” amsteel for our rings, specifically to exchange on the net so we wouldn't have to worry about dropping them. Soft shackles are pieces of gear that we use in rigging our highlines, but they are normally a lot bigger. I thought it would be fun to repurpose them and make rings, boutonnières, and bouquets out of them since the button knot kind of simultaneously looks like a diamond and a flower. I also loved that it was a very literal "tying of the knot". 📸: @thehearnes

One of my favorite parts about our relationship is that we share the same passions and attitudes towards life. I love that I can share this space with @slackinhigh, above the quiet abyss, with no questions asked, and with full calm and understanding. Between all the highlining and adventuring we have done over the past three years, we have found ourselves constantly putting our lives into each other’s hands (i.e. trusting their rigging, trusting that they’re spotting or belaying you correctly, trusting that they care enough to be attentive, double check their work, and keep you safe, etc.) From that I believe we have developed a really special bond and a really strong trust in one another. When you have done things together that literally challenge your lives, it has a way of highlighting the important things, and every other “problem” you had before suddenly seem to be insignificant in comparison. Our adventures remind us to LIVE together. To be lighthearted and not waste our short time on this Earth squabbling about petty things and “problems” that we don’t really have. Additionally, this photo represents the bond we have with the community in trusting the safety of this net that we all helped weave, rig, and create. @sketchyandylewis. Maybe that’s why the slack family as a whole is so special. We are all bonded in this way that not many people will ever understand. In a way that you only really get to understand when you are pushing your boundaries and having ultimate faith in your fellow human being. ❤️ 📸:@thehearnes

I love the perspective shift in these photos and the sense of scale these give. Rigging this net is always quite the undertaking, and since we did it nearly a week before the actual festival began this year, we had the least amount of people we’ve ever had to help get it rigged(maybe 6 people at each anchor). Pretty incredible that we still managed to pull it off considering this thing weighs probably 500 lbs. Not only that, but we also set it in a new location this year, rigged the new anchor all natural, and created an aisle out to the spacenet, which has never been done before. Thank you @sketchyandylewis @slacklifebc and all the other monkeys and riggers at the festival who lent a helping hand and their creative minds to literally turn my dreams into reality. I’m always blown away by what happens when this community comes together, and this wedding was a HUGE testimony to that. *SWIPE RIGHT TO SEE THE WHOLE VIDEO* Story time! On rehearsal night of our wedding, @hibs69stang was driving me and @_gillogs_ back to town from the Fruitbowl. We were all mentally and physically exhausted from the past two long days of setting up and coordinating, and feeling all of the not so fun part of the wedding stress. We decided to put on some music for that long dirt road and zone out. He has 11,500 songs in his car's library…..I shit you not, the FIRST song that came on was Hard to Concentrate by @chilipeppers . I looked at him, stoked, like, "Did Ryan tell you!?" And he said, "No, what?" He had no clue that was going to be our first dance song the next day. Out of ELEVEN THOUSAND songs, that one by chance came on first, the night before the wedding. (Funny how the universe seems to send these little signs/pick me ups that you're on the right path). I never planned much about a wedding growing up, but the one thing I always knew was that if I ever got married someday, THAT would be the song we would dance to (assuming I could find a guy that was okay with something not super traditional, and the right wedding environment to be able to play it in). Every time a relationship didn't work out, I always drifted back to that song, wondering if I'd ever get to know a love like that. Well, that dream finally came true! Because this song doesn't have an official music video, and has meant so much to me for so long, I thought I'd pay tribute to the Red Hot Chili Peppers by using their song over some of our wedding shots. And the cherry on top!? I FINALLY get to see them in person for the first time on Thursday in San Francisco. Another dream come true. Hey internet! My heart has been racing while seeing these photos, TBH. But for your adventurous souls, this could be a possibility. What I’ve understood from this is that the rest of your life is an escapade anyway, why not make your big day one epic affair and a day to truly remember for a lifetime.
