UP Cop Allegedly Asks Gang-Rape Victim For Sex To Register Her FIR!

Just when you think that the day will pass by without any cringing tales of crime and horror, something abhorrent will knock your conscience out of you! I say this, not because I’m a cynic, but because I”m in the business of news. The news of our reality that deserves a place in nightmares.

In a shocking incident, a 37-year-old woman from U.P, who had been raped by two men early this year, was allegedly asked for sexual favours by a cop to get her FIR registered. 

According to reports, she had gone to the investigating officer (IO) at Rampur’s Ganj police station where the officer allegedly asked her to first have sex with him before he takes any action. 

Sources also suggest that upon her denial, sub-inspector, Jai Prakash Singh, filed a closure report, turning deaf ears to her plea. She told TOI,

The victim was gang-raped by two men, 55-year-old Ameer Ahmad and 45-year-old Sattar Ahmad, one of whom was known to her. It was the night of February 12 when she was raped at gunpoint. But the only good news is she didn’t lose the will to fight.

She approached the officer again only to record him and his harassment on tape. Helpless, she secretly recorded his conversations and finally handed over a CD to the SP. Rampur superintendent of police Vipin Tada said,

“Prima facie, the voice in the audio clip doesn’t match with that of the SI. But will investigate her charges thoroughly.”

What is the truth? Only time will tell. Meanwhile we can only hope that she is met justice and basic human sensitivity.
