It’s been two months since the Doklam standoff between Indian Army and China’s PLA (People’s Liberation Army) sparked off, but the unrest is simply refusing to die. If you are not in the know, the issue began after India accused China of attempting to construct a road in the Doklam region – a disputed territory located in the Chumbi valley at a tri-junction of India, Bhutan and China.

Why the noise you ask?

Because the incursion could pose threat to India and its national security at its so-called ‘chicken’s neck’ sector in the Northeast. While both the countries have expressed to solve the rift with diplomatic dialogues, the exchange up until now has been full of heated remarks. And seemingly, it is going to get worse. Here’s why.

China’s official news agency, Xinhua News has mocked India and parodied the entire episode in a bizarre video that is titled as…

The video begins with an anchor ridiculing and accusing Indian troops of illegally entering China-India border.  She says,

The seven sins that the agency alleges India has committed are: “Trespassing, violating a bilateral convention, trampling international law, confusing right and wrong, putting the blame on the victim, hijacking a small neighbour and sticking to a mistake knowingly.”

In fact, the video even takes the help of stereotypes and racism to mock fun at India when it introduces a man in a faux beard trying to play a Sikh with a strange accent.

That is not it. The parody even has banked on the game of rhetoric with taunts and jeers that are not only in ill-taste but are also derogatory. Throughout the video, sly comments were made and how!

1. Among other accusations, India was called a ‘bad neighbour.’

2. After accusations came the unsolicited advice!

3. On bilateral talks between India, Bhutan and China came the verdict…

Watch the entire video to believe it.

“It’s time for India to confess its SEVEN SINS.”

Wow, really classy China! Having said that, the issue of national security, in my humble opinion, deserves more reverence than we just saw. Don’t you think?
