While surfing the web, we all come across a lot of things. We chose to scroll down the feed and ignore some, but there’s something that just catches the attention bang on and makes us go: What the hell did I just see? So, this is one of those.
A restaurant called Trendy Shrimp at a mall in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province of China is offering women discount based solely on the bra size. Yeah! We are serious. Take a moment to let that sink in.
I mean…How…Like…what? This is just downright bizarre.
Oh, wait till you see what they had put up to announce the discount. The posters showed a line-up of animated women in their underwear with the slogan “The whole city is looking for BREASTS”. And, the discounts are listed according to the cup size.
The bigger the size, the greater the offer. A woman with an A-cup bra could get 5% off her meal, but someone with a G cup could get a 65% discount.
From calling it vulgar to sexist to demeaning woman, the restaurant has received a lot of complaints. In a BBC report, Trendy Shrimp’s general manager Lan Shenggang defended their sales strategy.
“Once the promotion started, customer numbers rose by about 20%. Some of the girls we met were very proud – they had nothing to hide”.
He also said that if women were uncomfortable dealing with the male staff, they could claim the discounts from the waitresses, all that in order to avoid embarrassment.
Are these guys even serious? (Well, they are!) I mean still, can’t wrap my head around it.
