CBFC Banned ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ For Being ‘Lady Oriented’ And Celebs Have Had Enough

Is it really 2017? Certainly doesn’t feel like. No, I’m not hallucinating but didn’t you hear? The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has managed to strike again and this time without any axe! While you may argue that the board has a long-debated history with filmmakers and their angst (read: Udta Punjab), their latest deed will make you throw up.

If you’re living under a rock, the CBFC has denied a certificate to Prakash Jha’s production, ‘Lipstick Under My Burkha’ and the reason mentioned for the same is making the world cringe.

“The story is lady oriented …”

Look at the irony, the movie that has garnered a lot of appreciation and accolades abroad (including a gender equality award) has been denied a release in its home turf.

At the hour, Bollywood has come together as a fraternity and is condemning and trolling CBFC for what it is- ‘a guardian we don’t want’.

1. Farhan Akhtar has said it!

2. Unfathomable is the word, Renuka!

3. Couldn’t have put it better!

4. Hear that, CBFC?!

5. Rohan Joshi never minces words

6. Yeah. You tell them, girl!

7. HIGH. TIME

8. Even RGV knows how regressive this is!

9. It can’t be better than this!

10. Is there really no hope left!?

11. One of big order!

12. And the question of the hour is…

Now, tell me…does it really feel like 2017?!
