12 Year Old Boy In UP Died On His Father’s Shoulder After Being Denied Treatment And A Stretcher

What has the health management in this country come to?

Appalling incidents about people dying even when medical care is very much within reach are are becoming more and more rampant. This sorry state of affairs is making us question the entire belief system we have in the institution of healthcare.

In Kanpur, a 12-year-old boy ailing with high fever died on his father’s shoulders as the hospital allegedly denied him treatment.  He had to wait for 30 minutes before he was asked to go to a children’s hospital.

The government run Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital asked the father, Sunil Kumar to take his son Ansh to a children’s hospital. He ran towards the hospital since he was denied a stretcher as well, but alas, was too late.

Nobody came to his help, and sadly the father had to carry his now dead son all the way back home with a heavy heart.

“I begged doctors at the emergency to examine my son and admit him. They took 30 minutes before telling me to take the kid to the children’s hospital.”

What is the reason people are driven to this helplessness?
