Blake Lively Has The BEST Reply To Reporter Asking About Her Outfit At Power Of Women Event

A woman, no matter how successful, consciously or unconsciously has to go through a lot of subjugation before she is termed equal in a mix of sexes. While the differences are out in the open, the notion that breeds the differences is deep-rooted. And is dangerous to a society that aims at progress.

In today’s date and time, at the wake of development, people pretend or appear progressive but the disillusionment drops as soon as reality jumps to the fore, making for an exposé. Something similar happened when Blake Lively was invited and honoured at the Variety’s Power of Women event. Before anything, it looked like this.

But all went down when a reporter at the event asked Blake about her outfit instead of the noble cause that gathered everyone in the first place. Her brilliant response was live tweeted by USA Today’s Maeve McDermott and it is EVERYTHING.

“Are we really doing this? Would you ask a man that?”

Blake who was being recognised for her advocacy against child sex trafficking and pornography added,

“I’m here so we… become more aware, and that we change, and that we build (women up). So, you can ask me another question.”

This is not the first time an actress has urged reporters to be more creative with their questions. Earlier, in 2015, ahead of the Oscars that year, Reese Witherspoon used the hashtag #AskHerMore than just ‘who are you wearing?’

Apart from casual sexism, a lot goes into the making of one of these- marketing for example! However, there is nothing like a silver lining. Hope the streak continues, is all we can say. Also, kudos Blake!
