Recently a video of BJP MLA, Shimla Bawri from Anupgarh, Rajasthan has surfaced where she claims to have distributed money to journalists during the campaign for 2013 assembly polls. The legislator later denied the claims and said the video had been doctored.
“I was casually addressing journalists during an event held by them to felicitate me. I never said I had distributed cash,” said Bawri.
She also blamed a local journalist and said that it was merely an attempt to spoil her reputation.
But the recently famous video says otherwise.
Here, she can clearly be heard talking about how she is ‘a poor man’s daughter’ and she did what she did to fight the elections and that she offered envelopes of Rs. 11,000 to journalists in Rawla, Gharsana and Anupgarh. elections.
Out of these, 3 journalists from Anupgarh who were from Bhaskar, Rajasthan Patrika and Sandesh refused to accept it. They said they would accept the money only once she won the elections.
When asked if she would be filing a complaint against the journalist trying to defame her, she said, “No, but I will raise the issue in the assembly.”
